Emily Wagman advises nonprofit organizations in a diverse range of legal, tax, governance and compliance matters.

Practice Focus

Emily Wagman is an associate in the Nonprofit Group at Hemenway & Barnes. Emily advises tax-exempt organizations, including private foundations, public charities, and colleges on tax rules and procedures, governance, contracts, research and licensing agreements, and compliance matters. She advises on all phases of operations from formation to dissolution.

Prior to joining Hemenway & Barnes, Emily served as a Senior Tax Manager at a ‘Big Four’ accounting firm, primarily working with high net worth clients on providing tax planning and income tax advice. She is also experienced in regulatory compliance matters affecting higher education, health care, science and the arts.

Throughout law school Emily worked as a Graduate Research Fellow with a focus on corporate law and contracts.
