Hemenway & Barnes Names Sarah Waelchli and Kevin Ellis Partners in the Firm

BOSTON--Hemenway & Barnes, one of Boston’s leading legal and fiduciary firms, today announced that it named counsel Sarah M. Waelchli and associate Kevin M. Ellis as partners.

Sarah works with families and individuals in the areas of estate planning, probate, and trust administration. Sarah’s practice focuses on working with clients to develop and implement sophisticated plans that are tailored to each client’s unique personal and financial goals. She maintains a broad-based practice that covers all aspects of estate and individual planning, including complex wealth transfer strategies, multi-generational estate planning designs, non-judicial settlement agreements to revise trusts, and charitable giving techniques.

A contributing author to Practical Guide to Estate Planning and active past committee member of the Trusts & Estates Section of the Boston Bar Association, Sarah is also an involved member of the North Shore community, serving as Co-Chair of the Families with Children Neighborhood at Temple Emanu-el and volunteering her time at other local schools and organizations. Sarah received her B.A. from Winona State University, graduating summa laude, and her J.D. from Boston University Law School, graduating cum laude.

Kevin has a broad-based practice that focuses on estate and charitable planning, probate, trust administration and non-profit counsel. He has extensive experience creating estate and charitable plans for clients in addition to planning for vacation properties and other multi-generational assets.

A frequent speaker and active member in the legal community, Kevin serves as Co-chair of the Fundamentals Series Committee of the Tax Exempt Organizations Section for the Boston Bar Association. He also serves as general counsel to a number of private foundations. Kevin was recently elected to the Hingham Planning Board, and is a former member of the Hingham Harbor Task Force and Hingham Development and Industrial Committee. Kevin received his B.A. from Bucknell University (summa cum laude), his M.A. from Middlebury College and his J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law.
