Boston, MA (January 5, 2017) – Hemenway & Barnes, one of Boston’s leading legal and fiduciary firms, today announced that it named associates Ryan McManus and Charles Platt as partners and associate Sarah Waelchli as counsel.

Ryan’s concentration includes appellate, fiduciary, real property, and business litigation. He has substantial appellate experience including representing clients before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fifth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, and the appellate courts of numerous states. Ryan is currently co-chair of the Fiduciary Litigation Committee of the Boston Bar Association.

Charlie focuses his practice on all areas of estate planning – issues relating to estate, gift, generation-skipping, and income taxes, as well as succession planning. He has extensive experience with insurance planning and transfers of private equity, hedge fund and real estate interests. Charlie also advises clients on charitable giving. Charlie has been named among Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars in Massachusetts and New York.

Sarah maintains a broad-based practice in which she covers all aspects of estate planning for families and individuals, as well as probate and trust administration. She offers sophisticated wealth transfer strategies, multi-generational estate planning designs, and charitable giving techniques.
