Rob Leahy Joins Hemenway & Barnes Nonprofit Group

Hemenway & Barnes is pleased to announce that Robert T. Leahy has joined the firm as an associate in the Nonprofit Group.

Rob will advise private foundations, public charities, colleges and universities, and other tax-exempt organizations on tax regulations and procedures, contracts, research and licensing agreements, and compliance matters.

Prior to joining Hemenway & Barnes, Rob served as Senior Counsel at Northeastern University, primarily advising on sponsored research matters across the enterprise, including its subsidiaries and regional campuses.

“As part of the general counsel’s office of a large university for many years, Rob has worked on a wide range of matters of vital importance to our nonprofit and higher education clients. He is able to tackle problems with both technical acumen and a practical, relatable approach, which our nonprofit clients greatly appreciate. We are incredibly fortunate to have Rob join our growing nonprofit team,” said Brad Bedingfield, chair of the Nonprofit Group.

Rob began his legal career focused on government contracts in the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He received his JD from Pepperdine University School of Law and BA from Norwich University, The Military College of Vermont. Rob can be reached at rleahy@hembar.com.
