Michael Puzo Re-elected as Hingham Town Moderator

On May 2, 2026, Hingham voters elected Hemenway & Barnes partner Michael J. Puzo to a 15th consecutive term as Hingham Town Moderator. Michael is the third H&B partner to serve as Hingham Town Moderator. John Davis Long, one of the firm’s founders in 1863, held the office from 1873-1881, while Charles B. Barnes served as moderator from 1907-1929.
As moderator, Michael presides over Hingham’s open town meeting, the town’s legislative body, where all Hingham citizens who take part do so with voice and vote. Over 1200 voters took part in the 2026 Town Meeting on April 27th and 28th. The moderator is also responsible for appointing citizens to a host of town boards and committees, including the Advisory Committee, Personnel Board, and Community Preservation Committee, among others.
Also active in Hingham town service are Hemenway & Barnes lawyers and colleagues: Kevin Ellis, member of the Hingham Planning Board; Jessica Coakley, Trustee of the Hingham Public Library; Alan McKenna, former vice chair of the Conservation Commission; and Joseph Bierwirth, former chair of the Advisory Committee.
