Brad Bedingfield and Eleanor Evans to Discuss Race- and Sex-Based Grantmaking at 2026 PGGNE Charitable Gift Planning Conference

May 6, 2026

The Planned Giving Group of New England (PGGNE) will host its Annual All-Day Conference on May 6, 2026, bringing together professionals dedicated to advancing charitable giving and philanthropy across New England.

One of the largest regional forums for gift planners and allied professionals in the country, the conference typically draws more than 250 attendees from nonprofit organizations, educational and cultural institutions, and professional advisory firms across all six New England states and beyond. The program offers a full day of learning, networking, and collaboration for those working to strengthen philanthropic impact.

As part of the conference program, Brad Bedingfield and Eleanor Evans will present Race- and Sex-Based Grantmaking in 2026, a session examining how legal scrutiny of identity-based grantmaking is reshaping charitable giving. Grantmaking programs designed to support historically disadvantaged groups have often incorporated race, sex, or other identity-based criteria. Today, those approaches face heightened scrutiny from both private litigants and federal regulators.

Brad and Eleanor will examine the current legal landscape and nonprofits are adapting their programs in response. The session will also explore practical, legally sound strategies for donors seeking to advance support for underserved communities while navigating evolving legal risks.

Hemenway & Barnes is a sponsor of this year’s conference.
