ATTORNEY & PUBLIC OFFICIAL MATTERS

Due to the firm's demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive matters effectively, members of Hemenway & Barnes have been asked by public authorities to investigate or prosecute public officials charged with disciplinary violations. Members of the firm also have represented public officials, including members of the judiciary, against such charges. Members of the firm regularly have been appointed as masters and receivers in matters of public importance. For example, a member of the firm has been appointed by the Superior Court and the Probate and Family Court to serve as Receiver for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation concerning its relationship with the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center.
