The partners and associates of Hemenway & Barnes continually reaffirm our historic commitment to fulfilling leadership roles within our community by engaging in extensive charitable, professional, civic, continuing legal education, and pro bono endeavors. Among the current members of the firm, we include a former Middlesex County Probate Court Judge, a past president of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the former Commissioner of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, two past directors and presidents of the Board for the Greater Boston Legal Services, and the past president of the Massachusetts Conveyancers Association.

Unlike many of the larger law firms in Boston, Hemenway & Barnes is not an associate-intensive, hours-driven practice. We encourage balance among the frequently competing demands of family, community and our profession. As a result, many members of the firm serve in their respective home town governments, sit on the boards of many nonprofit organizations and are actively involved in schools and faith based institutions in their community.
