STEPHEN W. KIDDER joined Hemenway & Barnes in 1991 and became a partner in 1992. Mr. Kidder concentrates his practice in the areas of government relations, real estate, taxation and service as a professional fiduciary. He currently serves as the firm's Managing Partner and chairs the Management Committee.

Mr. Kidder served as Commissioner of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from September 1987 to January 1991. Before that, he served as General Counsel to the Secretary for Administration and Finance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Mr. Kidder serves as a Trustee of Century Shares Trust and Century Small-Cap Select Fund.

Mr. Kidder has written on the topic of state taxation of professional athletes. He is a Trustee of Wellesley College, Secretary and a Trustee of The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and a Trustee of the Children's Hospital Trust.

He graduated from Harvard College in 1974 (cum laude) and Boston College Law School in 1978 (magna cum laude) where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.
