ROBIN SHEEDY joined Hemenway & Barnes in 2002 and is a part of the Business Law group. Her practice includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic combination transactions, private equity and venture capital financing, technology licensing, asset based lending and commercial transactions for businesses of all sizes, from single entrepreneur start-ups to larger well-established enterprises. Several of Ms. Sheedy’s clients are technology companies focusing in the health care and health data industries and as a result, she has developed an expertise in advising a diverse group of technology and health sector organizations on their unique issues related to strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, financing, contracting, and security and privacy.
Ms. Sheedy received her J.D. from New England School of Law (cum laude), where she was Executive Case and Note Editor of the New England Journal on Civil and Criminal Confinement, a two-time recipient of the New England Scholar Award, and recipient of the President Anna E. Hirsch Award for Excellence, awarded at commencement. She also received a LL.M. in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law in 2002 and was recipient of the A. John Serino Outstanding Graduate Banking Student prize.
Active within the community, for the past five years Ms. Sheedy has been a writing coach for eighth grade students as part of Citizen Schools’ 8th Grade Academy and served as one of nine lawyers selected to participate in the inaugural year of the Boston Bar Association Public Interest Leadership Program (PILP). Most recently, Ms. Sheedy was appointed Chairwoman of the Citizen Schools’ Apprenticeship Task Force and she taught the Citizen Schools Run for Health Apprenticeship. She also currently serves on the Public Service Committee of the Boston Bar Association. She is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston and has served as co-chair of several events with the Boston Symphony Association of Volunteers. Ms. Sheedy focuses her pro bono representation on various arts and entertainment organizations in the greater Boston area. In her free time, she enjoys ice climbing in the winter months and as a four-time Ironman triathlete, spends spring, summer and fall in training to race triathlon. During her tenure with Hemenway & Barnes, she took a three month sabbatical to Mount Everest and worked as the Base Camp Manager for the 2004 Working Title Everest Expedition; the expedition began production and filming for a feature motion picture based upon the tragic events on Everest in 1996.
