JOAN GARRITY FLYNN joined Hemenway & Barnes in 2008 to continue her practice in the areas of estate planning, estate, trust and guardianship administration, and probate court equity matters.  She has practiced probate law since graduating from law school in 1981, first at Herrick & Smith until 1986 and then at Goodwin Procter LLP from 1986 until 1996.  Ms. Flynn joined Palmer & Dodge LLP in 1996 and was a Senior Counsel in the Private Client Department at the time of the merger between Edwards Angell LLP and Palmer & Dodge LLP in 2005 where she remained until coming to Hemenway & Barnes.

A resident of Weston, Ms. Flynn has been active in community affairs for over twenty-five years.  She has been deeply involved with the Weston Public Schools in capacities ranging from PTO President, PTO Vice-President, Parent Advisor for the Class of 2004, High School PTO Chair and Assistant Chair, and serving on search committees.  She has served as a member of her church’s parish council and on other church committees, as a member of the Weston Educational Enrichment Fund for several terms and as a member of the board of Parmenter Health Center in Wayland.

Ms. Flynn received her law degree from Suffolk University Law School and her undergraduate degree cum laude from Newton College of the Sacred Heart.
