TERESA A. BELMONTE joined Hemenway & Barnes after graduating from law school.  In 1993, she became a partner and concentrates in the areas of business and real estate law.  Ms. Belmonte’s business practice includes advising businesses and nonprofit organizations on technology and licensing issues, privacy law, and strategic partnerships and alliances.  Ms. Belmonte’s real estate practice includes commercial lending, and advising owners of both commercial and residential real estate on acquisitions, sales and financing, commercial leasing, and land use and environmental law and permitting.

Ms. Belmonte has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts, is a past chair of the Environmental Committee of the Massachusetts Bar Association Property Law Section Council, and served as a member of the Wakefield Conservation Commission. She has also been a panelist for and has chaired seminars sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and the Real Estate Bar Association. Ms. Belmonte is also a director of a local, independent school and served on its head search committee.

She graduated from Barnard College (cum laude) in 1979 and from Boston University School of Law (cum laude) in 1984 where she was an Editor of Boston University Law Review.
