CORNELIA R. TENNEY joined Hemenway & Barnes in 2006 to continue her practice in the areas of estate planning, tax planning, and charitable organizations.  Her experience in estate planning has focused on helping families to minimize gift and estate taxes through the use of tax efficient vehicles such as generation-skipping trusts and grantor retained annuity trusts, and includes providing advice on family wealth management vehicles such as family limited liability companies.  She also specializes in setting up and counseling private foundations and other charitable organizations and in providing advice on tax-advantaged methods of charitable giving. 

Ms. Tenney is a co-author of Practical Estate Planning, published by Panel Publishing, with Prof. Ray Madoff and Martin Hall, Esq.  She has authored articles on tax and estate planning topics in Estate Planning and Trial Magazine, and has been a speaker at the Federal Tax Institute and the Boston Bar Association.

Ms. Tenney received her law degree from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, and an L.L.M. in taxation from Boston University Law School.  Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Wisconsin, and she also holds an M.L.S. from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.  Before joining Hemenway & Barnes she practiced in Boston at Hill & Barlow and at Bingham McCutchen.
